Dr. Bert George (1987) is an Assistant Professor of Public Management at the Department of Public Administration and Sociology – Erasmus University Rotterdam.
Bert George (PhD) is assistant professor in public management at the Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands and a senior member of the Netherlands Institute of Government. Bert does research and teaches on strategy, behaviour and performance in public administration. He has acted as an external consultant for the OECD Directorate for Education and Skills on several occasions, including being part of an education system assessment in Georgia and Abu Dhabi as well as the Schools as Learning Organizations project in Wales. His research has resulted in numerous books, book chapters, academic articles, professional articles and popular press articles.
Bert has taught civil servants worldwide including Suriname, South-Africa and Belgium, and acts as a co-chair of the permanent study group on strategic management in government of the European Group for Public Administration. He holds a BSc and an MSc in Business Administration, and a PhD in Business Economics (Ghent University, Belgium) and received the triannual Merlot-Leclercq Award for the Best Belgian PhD in Public Economics from CIRIEC. Bert is an editorial board member of flagship public management journals (Review of Public Personnel Administration and Public Management Review) and directs the master of public management program at Erasmus University Rotterdam.
